Steve Irwin - RIP

The above photograph was kindly taken at Australia Zoo by a staff member using my camera while Bronwyn and I had the pleasure of a visit on 22/8/2005.
Please press the play button below for a link to an online Steve Irwin tribute. It may bring a tear to your eye.

Steve "Crikey" Irwin - great bloke and legend.
He is an Australian icon and was a terrific ambassador for our country. Australia Zoo is just one of his legacies and may it prosper.
Crikey Steve, you are going to be missed!

Condolences to the Irwin family.
From Darren and Bronwyn.

  1. The Crikey saying that Steve always used was possibly something that his father used. as it goes back a long way.
Incidently Crikey was a two word saying. 'Crikey Dick' but it became shortened over time, and was hardly used until steve came on the scene.
I believe the Americans love it, and say Crikey more often than the Aussies do, now that Steve has reinvented the saying. crikey.

  4. Hi anon, Sam, Kelly and Wendy.

Thanks for dropping by and leaving your comments, best wishes and tributes.

Steve Irwin had reached legendary status in Australia and it's of no surprise the amount of coverage his untimely death has received.

It's very rare to see a character like him come along and do so much for the conservation of wildlife and at the same time appear on television advertisements promoting quarantine issues in Australia.

Steve Irwin's contribution to tourism in Australia is immeasurable and he richly deserves every plaudit that is spoken about him.

Australia Zoo is a place that is well worth visiting to experience the animals, and it's now a place to pay homage to the achievements of a man who was a champion in the true sense of the word.
