“Wanganella in outback NSW doesn’t readily spring to mind as a must-see destination as it’s a dot on the map. However, its claim to fame is the introduction of the Australian Peppin merino sheep. On this day when travelling the Cobb Highway, I dropped into the Wanganella General Store adjacent Billabong Creek for a cup of tea, toasted sandwich and a chat with the friendly proprietors. From there it was a journey north to find something to photograph. I found this dead tree just up the road, composed the scene, and waited for another cattle truck to go past.
